- About Me -
I first got into Classic Racing through my step dad Les Trotter, as a teenager, even though I was aware of the of the scene, I wrote it off as a bunch of old bikes, leaking oil and 'racing' at a snails pace, how wrong could I have been!!
After helping Les for a couple of seasons, realising the sheer hard work and determination these guys put into their machines as well as meeting other Classic Racers like Geoff Hadwin, Paul Coward, Tom & Bud Jackson to name a few, my interest in the scene grew and grew and it wasn't long before Les offered to build me my very own 250cc Classic Suzuki Racer!
My first time out was at the Thundersprint in 2002, it was certainly a nerve racking experience, having not ridden a road bike for some years, never mind a Classic race bike and to top it all off, there was a crowd of around 20,000 people watching me wobble through the chicane!
A few years on and I'm now hooked, the rest of 2002 was a bit of a none starter with bike problems but throughout 2003 and 2004 I competed in the Auto 66 Sprint & Hillclimb Championship, winning the 250cc Post Classic class in 2004. In 2005 I made the step up to short circuit racing running with the Preston & District Motorcycle Club at Three Sisters and Angelsey and was 3rd in the under 250cc Classic Championship.
For 2006 I'll be once again competing with the Preston & District Club and possibly further a field. I'd also like to say a huge thanks to firstly my partner Tammi, Les & my mother D'reen and last but by no means least, local classic racer Geoff Hadwin as without their generosity, help and support throughout the last few years I wouldn't be sat here writing this now!
And lastly, all the the best for the 2006 season and if you would like to get in touch with me, you can do so my emailing me at lee@classicracing.co.uk
